- The project has expanded with volunteers and regular outreach sessions.
Tom Chalmers, a 17-year-old, initiated the Help4Homeless project to support homeless individuals in Peterborough by distributing wellbeing packs. Witnessing a man sleeping rough repeatedly inspired him to offer practical assistance.
Launched in late 2025, Chalmers used personal funds for the first 15 packs, which were distributed in February 2026. Each pack, costing £10, includes vital items such as socks, toiletries, snacks, and hot chocolate.
As of April 2026, Help4Homeless has received donations, recruited volunteers, and commenced regular outreach sessions. A recent fundraising campaign generated £390, enabling the creation of 39 additional packs for the May campaign.
The project is expanding its operations by forming a management committee and a volunteer team. Chalmers also aims to register Help4Homeless with the Charity Commission, driven by his passion for the charity sector.
