A teenager has achieved an "unreal" success at Crufts, securing a championship title in a grooming competition just months after beginning her career. Mia Blackburn, 18, from Kidderminster, won the Workshop Asian Fusion Beginners category. She competed with Scrabby, a cockapoo she met at the dog daycare center where she works.
Blackburn qualified as a groomer in June of the previous year, making her rapid ascent to a Crufts champion a significant accomplishment. She expressed her excitement, calling the win "amazing" against numerous talented groomers. Her passion for dogs started when she was 11, leading her to study animal care before discovering her love for creative dog grooming.
Her victory at Crufts, held on the show's famous green carpet, was a childhood dream come true. This followed another first-place win at a Kennel Club grooming competition in Coventry in January. Blackburn's ambition includes opening her own grooming salon, and she aims to compete at Crufts again next year.
Halesowen College commended Blackburn's achievement, highlighting her dedication and passion for professional dog grooming.
