Taco Bell's Sweet Comeback: Choco Taco Lives On!

Taco Bell has unveiled a new dessert aimed at fans who miss the discontinued Choco Taco. The Salt & Straw Churro Ice Cream Taco will be available exclusively at Taco Bell locations nationwide starting September 1, 2026, for a limited time. This new treat costs $3.99 and boasts a waffle cone shell filled with churro ice cream, finished with puffed rice and a dark chocolate-flavored coating.

In addition to the ice cream taco, Taco Bell is also launching the Salt & Straw Choco-Waffle Chiller at its Live Más Café locations. This blended frozen beverage, priced at $4.69, combines vanilla ice cream with churro crumbles, waffle cone pieces, and whipped cream. These new items were inspired by the success of a 2025 collaboration, the Tacolate, which featured cinnamon-ancho chili ice cream and quickly became a cult favorite.

The original Choco Taco, a childhood staple, was discontinued by Klondike in July 2022 after nearly 40 years. Klondike cited an unprecedented spike in demand for other products as the reason for its discontinuation. The news of the Choco Taco's cancellation generated significant social media buzz, with celebrities like Andrew Zimmern and Chrissy Teigen expressing their dismay and nostalgia for the iconic treat.
