Paul Crawford, a well-known Big Issue seller in Summertown, Oxford, died by suicide over the Christmas period at the age of 48. A memorial service was held for him at St Michael & All Angels church. Crawford was a fixture in the Summertown shopping area for years, often seen on a bench that has since been adorned with flowers. His passing has deeply saddened the local community, with many sharing heartfelt messages about the dignity he provided to shoppers.

His niece, Megan, reflected on the love shown and emphasized the importance of acknowledging street vendors. She shared that Paul had struggled with hard drugs but had become clean. However, he was reportedly afraid of re-establishing contact and breaking a promise to his late mother. The community's response, including fundraising over £5,000 for his funeral, highlights the significant impact Crawford had on Summertown residents.
