A college student's night out took a dangerous turn when she accidentally drank a significant amount of fabric freshener, mistaking it for water. The 20-year-old, identified as Lukia Pardoe from Birmingham, England, consumed about half a bottle after waking up thirsty at 3 AM.
Initially dismissing the unpleasant taste as a result of spicy food, she continued to drink, realizing her error only later when a friend pointed out the bottle. She subsequently drank approximately 10 glasses of water in an attempt to clear the chemicals from her system.
Upon arriving at the hospital, medical staff found the situation initially humorous due to the large volume ingested. Pardoe was treated with charcoal tablets to absorb toxins and experienced stomach cramps and a persistent chemical taste. She has since recovered and now views the incident as a funny, albeit cautionary, tale.
