Stoke-on-Trent Residents Invited to Shape City's Future Through Cohesion Strategy

In November 2025, the city council of Stoke-on-Trent announced an update to its Community Cohesion Strategy, following a "major listening exercise" that gathered input from over 1,000 local residents. The aim is to establish a Citizens' Assembly that will give people a "more direct say" on how the strategy is delivered.

The update comes after the city council leader acknowledged the significant impact of "economic hardship and the cost-of-living crisis" on the community, with too many residents feeling their voices and concerns are not being heard. To address this, the council is now inviting the public to complete an online survey before the strategy document is finalized later this year.

Alongside the cohesion strategy, Stoke-on-Trent is also celebrating its 100th anniversary with a separate initiative called "Future 100," which outlines actions to transform the city's economy. This includes a "workplan" for one of the Future 100 Mission Boards to focus on strengthening communities, education, and skills across the city.

The community cohesion strategy builds on the "One Stoke-on-Trent" campaign launched earlier this year, which has brought together leaders from various organizations, including the NHS, police, fire service, and schools. This campaign has been backed by £600,000 in government funding, which has been distributed as grants to help amplify initiatives that promote community unity and engagement.
