Starbucks is ushering in spring with a trio of new beverages, featuring the return of lavender and coconut flavors, and introducing ube to its main menu. The chain first saw success with lavender drinks in spring 2024, which became a popular, sought-after addition. This year, the lavender flavor reappears in the Iced Lavender Cream Chai, topped with a lavender cream cold foam. Early taste tests indicated the lavender notes were intensely floral, potentially overpowering the chai.
Coconut also makes a comeback with the Toasted Coconut Cream Cold Brew, complete with a toasted coconut cream cold foam. This syrup and foam are now available year-round. However, this particular combination was described as bringing out the bitterness of the cold brew, requiring extra sweetener and tasting too milky. The flavor pairing did not fully impress the tasters.
Ube, a flavor previously tested in reserve locations, is now available nationwide in the Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato. This vibrant purple drink is adorned with ube coconut cream cold foam and toasted coconut flakes. Despite its striking appearance and fragrant aroma, the ube flavor was noted as surprisingly soft, with vanilla undertones balanced by the toasted coconut, offering a delightful, dessert-like texture.
