Socks With Heels: The Bold Trend is Back!

The fashion industry is currently revisiting the striking combination of socks worn with heels. This trend, once a distinctive detail in the 1994 Versace ad campaign and seen in films like "Clueless," has re-emerged prominently in the autumn/winter 2025 collections. Designers from Miu Miu, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton have all incorporated this styling trick into their seasonal presentations.

At Miu Miu, knee-high socks were paired with stilettos, while Chanel opted for delicate pointelle socks with its classic pumps. Louis Vuitton extended the trend with thigh-high socks alongside ankle boots. The trend also featured embellishments and bold color pairings, seen at Rabanne, Marni, and Valentino.

This sock-and-heel combination is not new, with Prada notably featuring it in its spring/summer 1994 collection and revisiting it in subsequent shows. Achieving the look involves careful attention to proportion, particularly with longer sock styles that can visually elongate the leg. Color choice is also crucial, with bold shades offering greater impact against contrasting heels. Fabric diversity, from mesh to ribbed textures, adds further depth to this evolving fashion statement.
