Community Helps Dad Reach Son's Birth in Blizzard
27 Jan
Summary
- A snowstorm prevented a father from joining his partner in the ambulance.
- The father used a neighborhood Facebook page to find a ride.
- The baby boy was named Bylur, the Icelandic word for snowstorm.

A heartwarming display of community spirit unfolded in the Pittsburgh area on Sunday as a soon-to-be father was helped to reach his son's birth amidst a historic snowstorm.
Jordan Siters' water broke early Sunday morning, and her partner, Dalton Tabron, was informed he could not accompany her to the hospital due to the severe weather conditions. Faced with the possibility of missing the birth of their first child, Tabron turned to a local Facebook crime watch page.
His plea for a ride in a vehicle capable of navigating the treacherous, snow-covered roads was shared widely. Approximately an hour and a half after Siters departed, a community member with a 4-wheel drive vehicle responded, providing the essential transportation. Tabron successfully reached Jefferson Hospital in time for the birth of his son, which occurred around 4 p.m.
