Sir Michael Palin Saves Egg Festival Auction
24 Mar
Summary
- Sir Michael Palin donated two eggs to save an auction.
- The auction was for a unique egg cup at the MeggaFest festival.
- Proceeds from the auction benefited homelessness charity Centre Point.

A unique egg festival auction received a last-minute lifeline thanks to actor Sir Michael Palin. Simon Balch, the event's organizer, faced a critical shortage of a specially-made spherical egg intended for a bespoke egg cup. Without this unique item, his planned auction was in jeopardy.
Balch, who grew up in Suffolk but now resides in London, enlisted the help of his neighbor, Sir Michael Palin. The Monty Python star kindly donated two regular-shaped eggs, which were crucial for the auction to proceed at the "MeggaFest" event held this past Saturday.
Despite the compromise on the egg shape, the auction proved successful. A private collector purchased the donated eggs, a double egg cup, and a framed picture for £100. All proceeds from this sale were directed to the homelessness charity Centre Point. Balch, however, remains determined to find a perfectly spherical egg for his unique creation.
