Shenzhen's Greenways: Cycling Haven Emerges

Shenzhen, once a city with fragmented cycling routes, has undergone a significant transformation to become a premier destination for cyclists. Initiatives launched in 2020, such as the Shenzhen Mountain-Sea Vistas greenway network, have retrofitted continuous bike lanes and developed extensive greenways.

The Kunpeng Trail, spanning 200 kilometers, now links over ten major peaks, seventeen nature parks, and numerous other ecological and urban points of interest. Complementing this is a coastal cycling route that stretches across the city, connecting various parks, fishing harbors, and ancient villages.

This development has not only improved the urban cycling experience but also led to ecological restoration. For instance, the Dashahe River ecological corridor, once polluted, now boasts clear waters attracting wildlife and is a popular path for cyclists and joggers.

The enhancement of cycling infrastructure, coupled with a thriving local bike industry and favorable weather, has spurred a surge in cycling tourism. The city's bike rental stations report a significant influx of visitors from the Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong, Macao, and international tourists.
