Seniors Launch Podcast: 'Do You Remember the Time?'

Three residents from Sutton Rose Care Home in Birmingham, aged 92, 92, and 88, have created a unique podcast called 'Do You Remember the Time?'. This monthly show delves into how life has transformed over the decades, with the trio sharing their perspectives on relationships and societal shifts. The podcast was conceived during a reminiscence session, where staff recognized the residents' engaging banter would translate well to audio content.

The care home has fully supported the initiative, equipping the residents with lights, cameras, microphones, and a custom sign to facilitate YouTube-ready production. While new to podcasting, the participants, including former financial agent Doreen Lichfield and ex-bank clerk Anne Borne, found the experience akin to familiar conversations. They describe hosting the show as "like learning a new language" but ultimately rewarding.

The podcast's inaugural episode reflects on their school days and wartime experiences. The residents express a belief that their generation, despite its formality, experienced greater happiness than today's youth, highlighting the loss of genuine human connection. This project provides a platform for their "incredible stories and wisdom," fostering increased confidence and joy among the participants.
