A senior couple in Illinois has tied the knot in a truly memorable fashion, choosing the swimming pool where they first met as the venue for their wedding. Edward LaRue, 82, and Marlene Parsons, 78, exchanged vows on November 12th in the Collinsville Maryville Troy YMCA pool, surrounded by friends and family.
The bride and groom embraced the aquatic theme with specially designed water-friendly wedding attire. LaRue donned a tuxedo-inspired shirt and swim trunks, while Parsons wore a bridal swimsuit complemented by a veil and tulle skirt. Their unique ceremony included all the classic traditions, from vows to a bouquet toss.
Alie Morgan, the YMCA's aquatics director, officiated the ceremony, having recently obtained her minister's license. The couple, who had both lost their spouses six years prior, were initially hesitant about remarrying but ultimately took the plunge, inspired by their shared history in the pool.
