Machan Suite: Your Private Sanctuary in Uttarakhand

The Sen, a minimalist retreat, is situated in Velda Bada, Uttarakhand, a 5.5-hour journey from Delhi. This serene property is spread across four acres, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings. It comprises four exclusive suites, a lounge, an organic kitchen, and a striking outdoor pool.

The 'Machan' suite, the most secluded, is a duplex designed as a literal machan, offering panoramic views of the hills and forests. Inside, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and luxurious materials create a balance between raw nature and refined comfort, allowing guests to feel constantly connected to the environment.

Founder Nakul Sen, who has a background in fashion and design, spent four years building the retreat. He envisioned it as a private sanctuary for sensory immersion, inspired by the tranquil hills. His extensive experience in design and his appreciation for minimalist architecture are evident throughout the property.

While the retreat excels in design and architecture, its service is still evolving, being only a few months old. Housekeeping and other services are reportedly still being refined. Meals are a communal affair, served at a large table featuring local cuisine and fresh produce, with culinary direction from Chef Pankaj Sharma.

Guests can enjoy slow living, with limited Wi-Fi, encouraging activities like shepherd trails, forest yoga, and nature walks. Nearby attractions include Jim Corbett National Park, a 45-minute drive away. The retreat is accessible via Dehradun airport or Kotdwar railway station.
