Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, is reported to have stayed with her wealthy ex-boyfriend, F1 tycoon Paddy McNally, in his Swiss chalet in Verbier in the months before his death. The pair, who dated from 1982 to 1985, remained close friends for many years. McNally, aged 88, died recently following a long-term illness, just two months after the passing of his son, Sean.
Ferguson reportedly found refuge at McNally's £15 million property, "Les Gais Lutins," after being evicted from Royal Lodge. She had previously spent time at a clinic in Australia before her 90-day EU limit expired. Sources indicate McNally provided her with a "safe sanctuary" in his home during his final days, having "never abandoned" her.
McNally, a former racing driver and businessman, had amassed significant property holdings, including chalets in Verbier and Ian Fleming's former home in Wiltshire. Ferguson once described McNally as a "father figure" who taught her "so much about life."
