Santa Sails Thames for Young Cancer Charity

Father Christmas recently sailed down the River Thames on a motorboat equipped with a specially constructed sleigh, creating a festive spectacle to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The illuminated craft was spotted passing landmarks in south-west London, bringing holiday cheer to the riverside community. This unique event was organized by Sacha Pritchard and Matt King, who are known for documenting their unconventional island life on the Thames.

The creation of the sleigh was a significant undertaking, requiring meticulous attention to safety, removability, and suitability for winter river conditions. Ms. Pritchard described the complexity, noting it had to be lightweight, secure at speed, and accommodate lights, all while fitting the dimensions of their boat. Despite the challenges, the couple successfully executed their vision, with Mr. King portraying Santa and distributing gifts along the river.
