Santa's 64-Year Reign: 81-Year-Old Refuses to Retire

Ray Hulse, an 81-year-old from Bridgnorth, Shropshire, is marking an extraordinary milestone: 64 years of bringing festive magic as Santa Claus. His commitment began at 18 in 1961, and he has never missed a year since, embodying the spirit of giving through thousands of appearances. Over his tenure, he has personally handed out at least 7,000 presents and witnessed an estimated 12,000 children sit on his knee.

Throughout his decades-long career, Ray has championed charitable causes, raising tens of thousands of pounds for organizations like Hope Hospice. His festive journeys have been memorable, with his sleigh pulled by various modes of transport, from horses to Land Rovers. He has meticulously maintained only two Santa costumes during his extensive service, highlighting his dedication and resourcefulness.

Despite ongoing health concerns, including COPD and heart failure, and personal family struggles, Ray Hulse finds purpose and joy in his Santa role. He cherishes the happiness he brings to children and aims to continue spreading Yuletide cheer until his 100th birthday, viewing his continued service as a cherished duty to his community.
