Sandy Springs is set to launch its exciting back-to-school youth programming in early August. The festivities commence with the annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, Aug. 4, held on the City Green. This event aims to strengthen community-police relationships and will host public safety personnel from multiple government levels.
Families can anticipate an engaging evening with opportunities to meet law enforcement and fire department personnel, explore emergency vehicles, and enjoy helicopter landings. Younger attendees will find entertainment with inflatables, free shaved ice, and interactive experiences, all while enjoying live music.
The "Movies by Moonlight" series begins Friday, Aug. 7, with a screening of "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" at the Heritage Amphitheatre. Subsequent showings include "Spy Kids" on Friday, Sept. 4, and a Halloween-themed movie on Friday, Oct. 9. Community members can vote for the Halloween movie choice via social media and participate in a costume contest.
