This weekend, Pittsburgh will host the Ruff Ride, a unique 24-hour spin relay event. From 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse on Duquesne University's campus will be the hub for this fundraiser.
Participants can form teams to sponsor stationary spin bikes, taking turns riding throughout the entire 24-hour period. The event is more than just a fitness challenge; it's a festival and fundraiser with a mission. Live music, food, drinks, and a popular puppy kissing booth are among the attractions.
The Ruff Ride directly benefits Team Foster, an organization dedicated to providing accredited service dogs to injured and disabled veterans. These highly trained dogs assist with critical needs such as PTSD mitigation, seizure detection, and panic attack disruption.
Founded in memory of Eric Foster, a Pittsburgh native, Team Foster's work has a personal connection to the city. The organization strives to ensure veterans receive the support and companionship of a service dog, honoring the sacrifices of fallen heroes.
