A disabled puppy named Kronk, who miraculously survived the Chinese meat trade, is now thriving after being rescued and adopted by a US nonprofit. Kronk endured extreme abuse, suffering a brain injury that left him with neurological defects, a deformed face, and the inability to walk like other dogs.
Run 2 the Rescue, a New York-based charity, took Kronk in last year after he was saved from a slaughterhouse. Initially, he was severely underweight and suffered from multiple skull fractures due to the abuse. His health issues delayed his transport to the US for several months.
Brandy Cherven, co-founder of Run 2 the Rescue, personally adopted Kronk after witnessing his plight. Despite his lifelong disabilities, Kronk is reported to be one of the happiest dogs, making significant progress. The organization is now fundraising through the America's Favorite Pet competition, with Kronk as their nominee, to support their efforts in rescuing more animals from the meat trade.
