Two cats, named Basil and Hazel, were discovered abandoned in a taped-up laundry basket within Weelsby Woods, Grimsby, on August 19th. They were found in a distressing state, underweight and suffering from severe flea allergies that had resulted in painful sores across their bodies. The Goole and District RSPCA took them in, providing care that allowed them to regain their health and weight over several weeks. These lovely-natured cats have now been adopted by Catherine Collins, a resident of Beverley. Ms. Collins expressed her delight, stating the cats will be extensively spoiled and will 'rule the roost', receiving gifts like Christmas presents. The RSPCA branch noted that while heartened by the cats' recovery and adoption, they frequently deal with such abandonments, urging the public to seek help rather than leaving pets in vulnerable situations.
