23 Jan
Summary
- Two adventurers' record attempt from Devon to Cape Town was halted.
- Their three-wheeled Reliant Robin's engine exploded in Cameroon.
- A replacement engine is being sent to continue their fundraising journey.

Oliver Jenks and Seth Scott's extraordinary quest to travel from Devon to Cape Town in a three-wheeled Reliant Robin has hit a major snag. The duo, aiming to set a Guinness World Record, experienced a severe engine failure in Cameroon, bringing their 10,000-mile journey to a standstill. The engine reportedly exploded, causing significant damage and nearly injuring Jenks.
Despite the setback, the journey is not over. A replacement engine is being dispatched from Exeter to Cameroon. The pair, who are fundraising for the charity School in a Bag, were aided by locals who helped transport their car and themselves via a cattle truck. This unexpected detour presented its own challenges, including multiple encounters with confused police officers during the nine-hour journey.
