- The float was part of Lincoln City's Finder's Keepers program.

A 68-year-old Oregon woman, Leslie Lundquist of Sheridan, recently embarked on a final, cherished trip to the beach before entering hospice care. Diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2024 and subsequently developing two brain tumors, Lundquist desired a peaceful moment by the ocean.
During her visit to Lincoln City, Lundquist joyfully discovered a rare, handblown glass float along the shoreline. The swirly purple art piece even matched her hat, adding a personal touch to the discovery.
This unique find was part of Lincoln City's ongoing Finder's Keepers program, which hides thousands of artist-created floats annually. The float's creator, Kayla Moore of MJ Creations by the Creek, expressed that the find seemed serendipitous, a special gift for Lundquist's memorable trip.
Lundquist initially playful accused her family of planting the float, unaware it was part of the town's tradition. The Finder's Keepers program, now in its 25th year, aims to bring moments of unexpected delight to beachgoers.
