On August 15, 2025, the 79th Independence Day celebrations were held in Ramanathapuram district. District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon unfurled the national flag and inspected a guard of honor. He then distributed welfare assistance worth ₹84.29 lakh to 80 people on the occasion. Additionally, the Collector presented appreciation certificates to 304 personnel from various government departments and the public for their exemplary service during the year.
The celebrations also featured a colorful presentation of dance and other cultural events organized by government schools and children from the NCC, NSS, and other units. Senior officials, including Ramanathapuram Range DIG of Police Pa Moorthy, SP G Chandeesh, and District Forest Officer Hemalatha, participated in the festivities.
Similar Independence Day celebrations were held in other districts of Tamil Nadu, such as Sivaganga, Theni, and Dindigul. Collectors in these districts hoisted the national flag, inspected guards of honor, and distributed welfare benefits to the needy. They also recognized the efforts of government employees and organized cultural programs showcasing the talents of local schoolchildren.
