Madhavan: 'Quality Time' with Kids is Western Concept

R. Madhavan, fresh off the success of 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge,' has shared his distinctive parenting philosophy. He expressed that the idea of dedicating 'quality time' to children is a Western construct. Instead, the actor emphasizes guidance, instilling values, and fostering trust as the cornerstones of raising a child.

Madhavan rejects the notion of being a 'cosmetic father,' someone who is superficially present in their child's life. He believes in being there for essential support and guidance when needed, rather than adhering to a schedule of perceived obligatory time spent. His film, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge,' has achieved remarkable success, grossing over Rs 680 crore within nine days of its theatrical release on March 19, 2026.

The actor advised his son to embrace life without hesitation and avoid comparisons. He advocates for a more grounded upbringing, encouraging his son to 'live life like an Indian kid' and play without insecurity about parental achievements. Madhavan stated that he would always be there for his son if any help was needed.
