Pimpri Chinchwad will experience significant traffic changes from Wednesday, July 7, 2026, as the annual palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj commence. The traffic branch has enacted road closures and diversions affecting Dehu, Alandi, and the entire procession routes, which will persist until both processions enter Pune city on July 9. Heavy vehicles are banned from Dehu and Alandi, and procession paths are designated 'No-Tolerance Zones' for all vehicles.
The Sant Tukaram Maharaj palkhi, which began its journey from Dehu on July 6, is scheduled to halt in Akurdi on July 8 before proceeding to Pune on July 9. The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will enter Pune Rural police limits at Zendewadi near Saswad on July 11, traversing approximately 55 km. Concurrently, the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi will enter Pune Rural police limits at Kunjirwadi near Uruli Kanchan on the same day, covering about 160 km through the district. Both processions will be managed with extensive police bandobast and special teams to prevent crime, alongside the continuation of the 'Harit Wari' tree-planting initiative.
