After a year's wait, the annual festival is finally here, with Bengali associations dedicating weeks to preparations to ensure a seamless experience for visitors.
Across various pandals in Pune, the Goddess Durga will be invoked on Panchami, September 27th, to descend from her heavenly abode and bless her devotees. The Poona Bango Sanmilani and Puneswari Kalibari Saminity will host their 23rd Purbo Poona Sarbajanin Durgotsav at the Bhosle Garden Corporation Ground in Hadapsar, following all traditional rituals. Meanwhile, the Aagomoni Prabasi Sangha in Baner is preparing for one of the city's largest gatherings, with an impressive 25-foot-wide and 14-foot-high idol of the Goddess.
The celebrations will feature a rich array of cultural programs, including Rabindrasangeet performances, dance dramas, and theatrical productions. Visitors can also indulge in authentic Bengali cuisine at the "Anondomela" food festival and enjoy musical tributes to legendary artists. The Anandam Association in Wanowari is also marking 21 years of its Durga Puja celebrations, blending devotion with art and culture.
As the city embraces the vibrant festivities, the Bengali diaspora in Pune eagerly awaits the return of their most cherished annual celebration. The Durga Puja festivities are expected to draw over 2 lakh visitors and serve bhog to approximately 25,000 devotees, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere for the entire community.
