6 Mar
Summary
- Princess of Wales removed her shoes at a Hindu temple visit.
- She participated in a traditional garba dance with worshippers.
- Kate also received a bindi and was garlanded with flowers.

The Princess of Wales recently visited Leicester, where she attended the Shreeji Dham Haveli Hindu Temple. During her visit on Thursday, the Princess removed her high heels as a sign of respect before entering the temple.
Inside, she was welcomed with a flower garland and a bindi placed on her forehead. Kate then participated in a traditional garba dance with a group of women, moving in a circle around a statue of Lord Krishna. She also made an offering to the deity and enjoyed a vegetarian lunch.
This barefoot gesture is a rare royal exception, recalling similar instances during past engagements, such as a visit to the Gandhi museum in India in 2016 and judging a judo match in 2012. The visit highlighted the Princess's engagement with diverse cultures and her willingness to embrace local customs with respect.
