Prayagraj Celebrates Krishna Janmashtami with Fervent Devotion

The city of Prayagraj in India celebrated the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami on August 18, 2025, with great religious zeal and enthusiasm. Devotees from all age groups flocked to prominent Radha-Krishna temples in the city, offering prayers and participating in the vibrant festivities.

The ISKCON temple, reserve police lines, and various other locations across Prayagraj witnessed grand celebrations, with thousands of devotees in attendance. The temples were beautifully decorated with lights and flowers, and the deities were adorned in special traditional and colorful dresses brought from Mathura, Vrindavan, Kolkata, and Rajasthan.

Devotees performed special puja rituals, chanted vedic hymns, and sang bhajans and keertans to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. Many also prepared delicious food dishes and prasad to offer to the deity. Elaborate security arrangements were made by the police to manage the large crowds and ensure smooth traffic flow around the temples.

The celebrations continued well into the night, with devotees bursting crackers at midnight to mark the auspicious moment of Krishna's birth. The city markets also witnessed a heavy influx of shoppers as people engaged in last-minute shopping for puja articles and prasad.
