20 May
Summary
- Pippa's gown by Giles Deacon featured hand-pieced lace and hidden seams.
- The dress drew inspiration from a 1960s film's dramatic dancing scenes.
- Pippa recycled her wedding earrings from her sister Kate's royal wedding.

Pippa Middleton married James Matthews on May 20, 2017, in a bespoke creation by British designer Giles Deacon. The silk cotton lace gown featured a corseted bodice, cap sleeves, a high neckline, and a distinctive heart-shaped keyhole back. Deacon's design aimed for a "How-was-that-done?" effect through hand-piecing the lace and expertly concealing seams.
Inspiration for the gown's flowing silhouette came from the dancing scenes in the 1963 film "The Leopard." The dress was designed to provide "incredible movement," with a tulle train and front pleats that allowed the skirt to float and spin.
Several elements echoed Pippa's older sister Kate's 2011 wedding dress, also designed by Sarah Burton. Both sisters opted for a corseted bodice with a lace overlay and similar pleated A-line skirt shapes. Pippa's modest mockneck was reminiscent of Grace Kelly's bridal style.
For her "something old," Pippa recycled pearl-and-diamond drop earrings, originally commissioned for Kate's royal wedding. She completed her look with a bespoke Maidenhair Fern tiara by Robinson Pelham, crafted from 18-karat white gold and diamonds, designed to complement her face shape.
