Golfer Jake Knapp Mourns Girlfriend Makena White's Tragic Passing

In a heartbreaking statement, PGA golfer Jake Knapp has paid tribute to his girlfriend, Makena White, following her tragic passing earlier this week. Knapp, who reportedly began dating the 28-year-old Ottawa native in August 2023 after his Mexico Open win, described White as a "thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate."

The couple shared many "unforgettable memories" together, but Knapp now finds it difficult to comprehend the reality of White's death. "She had an incredible family, great friends, and her fun, outgoing energy will be missed by all of us," he said. "It's an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak, especially her family and friends, who deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time."

White's friend broke the news of her passing on her Instagram account, calling her "one of a kind" and someone who "had this rare way of making you feel special." The friend encouraged those wishing to honor White's memory to make donations to the Bruyère Brain Health & Memory Clinic, where White's mother had been treated for Alzheimer's disease before her own passing in April 2022.
