In a significant personal milestone, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, 41, has found redemption through baptism and sobriety. Earlier this year, Lochte went through a difficult divorce from his wife Kayla Rae Reid and also completed a stint in a substance abuse rehabilitation program.
On November 2, 2025, Lochte revealed that he had been baptized, sharing several videos of the religious ceremony on his Instagram. He expressed his gratitude for the support of his fans and followers, stating that he had made the decision to rededicate his life to Jesus. Lochte's baptism, which symbolizes the washing away of sin, comes two months after he announced that he had been sober for 54 days following his substance abuse struggles.
Lochte's recovery journey has not been an easy one. After a car accident earlier this year, he found himself in a "really dark place" dealing with depression, loneliness, and feelings of giving up. This led him down a path of substance abuse, prompting him to check into a Florida recovery center. Now, Lochte is focused on his continued healing, being the best father he can be, and moving forward in a way that keeps his children safe, supported, and loved.
