In a significant move, the Odisha government has unveiled a $12.5 million renovation plan for the iconic Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapada. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the state's Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on November 13, 2025.
The comprehensive plan aims to transform the temple and its surrounding areas to attract more tourists and devotees. It includes the demolition of 47 structures near the temple, with the government promising rehabilitation for all affected shop owners and residents. Additionally, the renovation will focus on constructing proper roads, a boundary wall, drinking water facilities, enhanced security, and overall beautification of the temple complex.
