Nurse Quits After Boss Cancels Her Christmas Vacation for New Mom

On November 15, 2025, an ICU nurse made the difficult decision to quit her job after her boss canceled her pre-approved Christmas vacation. For the past 6 years, the nurse had worked every major holiday, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's. This year, she had requested the week of Christmas off in July and her request was approved, as her parents had retired and the family had planned a long-awaited trip to Europe to visit relatives and experience the Christmas markets.

However, in late October, the nurse's boss called her into the office and informed her that her Christmas vacation was being revoked. The reason was that a co-worker had a baby a few months earlier and needed the time off to celebrate the baby's first Christmas. The nurse pointed out that the same co-worker did not work any holidays the previous year and was not scheduled to work any this year either. Despite the nurse's protests that her vacation had been approved months in advance and that she had already made non-refundable plans, the boss refused to reconsider.
