Nurse Mom of Six Dies After Cancer Battle

Shelly Sepulveda, a cherished nurse, mother of six, and foster parent, passed away on Monday at the age of 49 following complications from ovarian cancer. Her brave fight concluded at Boston Medical Center, where her organs began to fail. Shelly was widely recognized for her unwavering dedication to her family and her passion for nursing, having worked in the field for over 20 years.

Last year, Shelly made headlines when her cancer battle forced her to stop working as the primary provider for her family of eight. She and her wife, Tami, had fostered nearly two dozen infants and adopted five children, in addition to raising their biological son. Shelly's commitment to caring for others extended beyond her family; she and Tami, also a NICU nurse, specialized in fostering medically fragile infants.

Earlier this month, Shelly was honored at a Patriots playoff game in Foxborough, where owner Robert Kraft presented her with Super Bowl tickets. This gesture brought her immense joy during her challenging treatment period. Her family is currently organizing a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses, as her passing means a loss of income from her disability insurance.
