In 2025, Noah and Grace emerged as the most favored names for newborns in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (Nisra) reported that Grace secured the top position for girls for the second consecutive year, a consistent favorite among the top three for two decades. Noah has also regained its status as the most popular boys' name, having previously held the number one spot in earlier years. Jack and James followed as the second and third most popular boys' names, respectively.
Several names showed significant movement in popularity. Arthur made its first appearance in the top 10 since 1997, and Leo also re-entered the top 10. Among baby girls, Fiadh ranked second, with Olivia in third. Annie re-entered the top 10, and Meabh achieved this milestone for the first time. Nisra's data revealed a higher number of unique girls' names registered (2,225) compared to boys' names (1,875). Additionally, 966 baby names registered in 2025 were entirely new, not having been used before.
