Summary
- Visitors allegedly plucked flowers from murals and took potted plants.
- A video of the incident went viral, drawing sharp criticism online.
- The event attracted nearly 10 lakh visitors over four days.

The recent Vasant Utsav, Noida's 38th Flower Show, ended amidst controversy on its final evening. Visitors were reported to have plucked flowers from elaborate floral murals and carried away potted plants from Shivalik Park, turning a celebration of spring into a scene of disorder. Footage shared online showed attendees grabbing calendulas and orchids, leading to widespread criticism about civic responsibility.
This incident echoes past lapses in public behaviour. Previously, similar chaos occurred at the World Book Fair in Pragati Maidan when visitors rushed to grab books. Decorative pots were also stolen from Bhairon Marg following the G20 summit. The four-day Vasant Utsav drew close to 10 lakh visitors, with a significant surge on the final day contributing to the disturbance.
The flower show featured a unique theme centered around the Kedarnath shrine, with a large floral replica as its main attraction. Other artistic installations included trishuls, elephants, and musical instruments, transforming the park into an immersive display of 120 floral varieties. Officials noted that while overcrowding on the last day led to the nuisance, they consider public events like this a shared responsibility.
