A vital late-night safe space in Newcastle-under-Lyme is expanding its operating hours throughout the festive period to offer crucial support to revellers. This initiative aims to assist individuals who may encounter difficulties, providing services such as help securing safe transportation home or a place to wait for friends.
The safe space, located at Lancaster Buildings, will be accessible on December 19th, 20th, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve. Operating between 21:00 and 02:00 GMT, it will have qualified medics available. Additionally, taxi marshals will be on duty from 23:00 to 04:00 to manage transport.
Established in March 2022, the safe space was initially set up to aid women and girls in reaching home safely. Now run by Newcastle-under-Lyme BID in partnership with the council, it underscores a commitment to ensuring safe nights out. Volunteers, medical staff, and taxi marshals are dedicated to assisting anyone needing a helping hand.
