Residents of Sangam city are set to benefit from enhanced fitness accessibility as the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans to install 30 new open-air gyms. These facilities will be strategically located in parks and public areas throughout the city, involving an investment of over ₹1 crore. The initiative aims to foster a healthier lifestyle among citizens.
The new open-air gyms will be equipped with a variety of exercise machines, including standing waist trainers, space walkers, rowing machines, and chest presses. These will cater to all age groups, from youngsters to senior citizens, ensuring broad accessibility. The PMC has begun identifying suitable locations, prioritizing areas where existing facilities are distant from residents.
Chief Engineer Dinesh Chandra Sachan highlighted that the project intends to promote well-being and optimize the use of public spaces. The equipment will be installed at varying heights to accommodate children and the elderly. A tender will be floated once locations are finalized, with private agencies responsible for maintaining the gyms for at least five years.
