Dad's Transplant Hope for Son

Sam Vanderpump, a father of a two-month-old son named Duke, is in urgent need of a liver transplant. He was diagnosed with congenital hepatic fibrosis at the age of four, a condition that had remained dormant for 23 years before rapidly progressing to end-stage liver disease following a severe infection in December 2024. This progression necessitates a transplant to save his life and allow him to see his son grow.

Sam's mother, Simone, 56, volunteered as a living donor, but an anomaly at the final testing stage ruled her out, leaving her devastated. This experience, along with Sam's initial reluctance to have loved ones undergo the risky procedure, is detailed in an upcoming Channel 4 documentary. His wife, Alice, played a pivotal role in convincing him to explore living donor options for the sake of their family.

Doctors have assured Sam that living donor transplants in the UK have a minimal risk, with no recorded fatalities.
