The 65th edition of the Katol Road Durga Puja in Nagpur unfolded its spiritual and cultural splendor last Saturday evening with an auspicious inauguration ceremony. The event, organized by the Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee under the aegis of the Bengali Cultural Society, set the tone for five days of devotion and celebration.
The ceremonial inauguration was graced by chief guest Rajeev Swarna, GM of the SBI zonal office's main branch, who performed the inaugural rituals. The evening also witnessed the presence of the committee's guiding forces, including chief patron Ranjan Sahai, chief advisor Dipankar Som, president Vijay Ramani, and general secretary Swapan Chakraborty, among other senior members and well-wishers.
The inaugural evening was marked by soulful cultural offerings, including a performance by renowned vocalist Sharmisthta Jha and a graceful dance recital by Srishti and Shreya Roy from the Geetanjali Cultural Institute. As the evening progressed, the grounds came alive with the rhythmic beats of Garba, inviting devotees and enthusiasts to join the colorful circle of dance and celebration.
The coming days promise a kaleidoscope of performances, with acclaimed artists from Kolkata, Siliguri, and Nagpur set to enthrall audiences on Maha Sashti, Maha Saptami, and Maha Ashtami. The festivities will culminate on Maha Navami with a grand musical presentation by the celebrated Swastika Thakur and her team.
The Katol Road Puja has, over decades, grown into a cultural landmark of Nagpur, blending devotion with artistry and fostering a spirit of inclusivity.
