Mumbai Mayor Cleans Up Dadar Skate Park After Viral Post

A neglected skate park beneath Mumbai's Hindmata flyover received a much-needed overhaul after a viral Instagram post highlighted its poor condition. The post, shared by resident Harsh Chaubey, showcased accumulated dust and garbage, raising health concerns for users.

Taking immediate cognizance of the social media complaint, Mayor Ritu Tawde inspected the facility on Saturday. Expressing dissatisfaction, she directed civic officials to undertake an urgent clean-up and ensure future maintenance. Sanitation workers swiftly removed garbage and cleaned the premises, with the BMC reporting the park was restored within hours.

The Mayor also mandated repairs, repainting, improved drainage, enhanced lighting, and the deployment of security personnel. She praised the constructive use of social media by citizens in addressing civic issues and encouraged continued resident cooperation in maintaining public infrastructure. Chaubey was appreciated for his civic awareness, and both he and the Mayor planted saplings to beautify the area.

The skate park, spanning 187 sq m, was originally developed by the BMC's F South ward between December 2022 and March 2023 as part of an urban beautification initiative. It features skating facilities and recreational installations, including a Mallakhamb sculpture.
