Mom, 55, Stuns Waiter by Revealing Her Age

Pilli Cortese, 55, recently experienced a moment that highlighted her unconventional family when a waiter mistook her for her five-year-old daughter Amelie's grandmother. Pilli, who has two older sons, met Ross in October 2014 when she was 44 and he was 23. Despite the 21-year age gap, their relationship blossomed, and they eventually decided to pursue parenthood together.

After unsuccessful natural attempts and facing the emotional toll of miscarriages, they opted for IVF using a donor egg. Pilli underwent hormone treatments and medication, successfully conceiving despite the onset of the pandemic. However, the twin pregnancy necessitated a difficult foetal reduction.

Amelie was born via C-section in November 2020, shortly after Pilli's 50th birthday. Pilli emphasizes that motherhood is about love and sacrifice, not just genetics. She also shares that unused embryos from their IVF journey resulted in a biological sister for Amelie, born to a couple in Canada with whom Pilli has formed a close friendship.
