Jack Marshall, 28, has published his first memoir, "The Boy Who Can't Smile," chronicling his life with Moebius Syndrome. This rare neurological condition has left him without facial nerves, impacting his ability to smile or blink. Marshall also faces challenges with balance and coordination due to being born without part of his cerebellum, alongside visual and hearing impairments.
Despite early predictions that he would never walk or talk, Marshall's mother provided crucial support, enabling him to attend schools that suited his needs. He went on to earn a Master's degree in criminology and criminal justice, demonstrating significant academic achievement against the odds.
His achievements extend beyond academia; Marshall has completed the National Three Peaks challenge and a skydive. He is an active campaigner for disability rights and a volunteer for Caudwell Children, a charity that supported him previously. In recognition of his fundraising efforts, he was awarded a British Empire Medal in 2019.
