15 Feb
Summary
- Man claims to have lived in the forest for 10 years.
- He survives on raw leaves and wild greens, not cooked food.
- He learned his diet by observing monkeys in the wild.

For approximately ten years, Budan Khan Hosamani has chosen a life of seclusion in the forested hills of Belagavi. Locals have nicknamed the 34-year-old the "Modern-Day Tarzan" due to his muscular physique and comfort in the wilderness. Hosamani states that he sustains himself entirely on raw leaves and wild greens, having adapted to a diet of around 80 local plant varieties.
He asserts that he no longer finds conventional cooked food appealing and credits his daily practices of walking, yoga, and exercise for aiding his digestion of raw vegetation. Hosamani's unique dietary choices were reportedly learned by observing monkeys, studying which plants they consume and avoid. He left his home in Ugargol village about a decade ago, choosing the forest over societal pressures, particularly marriage.
Though living in isolation, Hosamani maintains possession of a mobile phone for emergency use. His dedication to this sylvan existence has remained steadfast for the past ten years. He continues his life far from public view, embracing the wild.
