As of October 16, 2025, Mindy Kaling, the 46-year-old co-creator of Running Point, has been getting creative in the kitchen with her children. In an Instagram reel shared on October 15th, Kaling demonstrated how she cooked a simple chicken Milanese meal for her family, using a recipe from homecook and author Maxine Sharf.
Kaling, who is known for keeping her children's birthdays private, has a rule of keeping the celebrations "low-key" until the kids turn 5 years old. However, this year, her son Spencer recently celebrated his 5th birthday with an elaborate Back to the Future-themed party, complete with a bounce house and a replica of the DeLorean time machine car.
In the video, Kaling proudly showcased her favorite kitchen gadget, the meat mallet, as she pounded the raw chicken breasts before coating them in salt, pepper, flour, and an egg wash. The star then baked the chicken in the oven, topping it with mozzarella cheese for a cheesy finish. Kaling was pleasantly surprised by the final result, declaring it "the best thing I've ever made."
Kaling, who is also the private mom of daughters Anne, 18 months, and Katherine, 7, has been keeping her children's birthday celebrations low-key until they reach the age of 5. She previously shared this rule on Jimmy Kimmel Live, admitting to feeling "a little guilty" about it.
