Michael Barrymore has abandoned his emigration plans to Spain, opting instead to purchase a bungalow in Devon, England. The 73-year-old former primetime TV star had previously announced his intention to move near Barcelona, seeking a fresh start. However, the move proved 'traumatic' and left him feeling intensely 'homesick'.

Barrymore described the experience as a 'shock U-turn' after being drawn into anti-tourism protests in Spain. He documented his distress in a video, expressing feelings of insecurity and self-pity. Following this difficult period, Barrymore based himself in West London before settling into his new two-bedroom bungalow in a market town in the fashionable south of Devon.

He has since begun documenting his new life in the UK on TikTok, sharing videos of his home, his whippet Lara at local beaches, and interactions with locals. The timber-clad bungalow, valued at £385,000, features exposed wooden beams and a decking area. Barrymore has shared that the move has been emotional, with mixed feelings of fear, excitement, and nervousness, emphasizing that fame does not shield one from emotions.
