Two vital community initiatives supporting men's employment and mental wellbeing have received national recognition. Medway Men In Sheds, based in Gillingham, and Broadstairs Town Shed have both been nominated for the prestigious UK Men's Sheds Awards in the health and wellbeing category.
Since 2014, Medway Men In Sheds has been funded by Medway Council, providing a space for unemployed men to share and develop diverse skills, including woodworking, electronics, and audio engineering. Broadstairs Town Shed, also established in 2014, is known for its wood and metalwork expertise and previously won Shed of the Year in 2022.
Both groups are set to compete against a contender from County Durham for the award. The winners will be announced at a ceremony scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Houses of Parliament, celebrating the invaluable contributions of Men's Sheds across the country.
