Mathura on High Alert as Devotees Flock for Krishna Janmashtami

On August 15, 2025, the city of Mathura has been placed under heightened security measures as it gears up to host the annual Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. Thousands of police officers and personnel have been deployed across the city to manage the influx of devotees expected to arrive in the coming days.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to participate in the Janmashtami celebrations on August 16th. The CM will offer prayers at the Sri Krishna Janmasthan temple and also inaugurate various development schemes for Mathura. He will also felicitate saints and watch a documentary on the Govardhan Hills.
To ensure the safety of the lakhs of devotees, the district authorities have divided the city into four zones and 18 sectors. The entry of heavy vehicles into Mathura has been banned, and the movement of vehicles near the Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple has been restricted. Social media activity is under strict surveillance, and the inner area of the temple has been designated as a red zone with extra police presence.
