Mar Hall, a grand 19th-century gothic mansion located just outside Glasgow, Scotland, has emerged as a favored private retreat for numerous international celebrities.
The estate, nestled in 240 acres overlooking the River Clyde, has hosted stars such as Harry Styles, Beyonce, Chris Martin, Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Liam Gallagher. Originally designed by Sir Robert Smirke in 1828 for Major General Robert W Stuart, the mansion has a rich history, having served as a hospital during World War I.
In recent years, the property, now officially known as JA Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort, underwent a substantial £20 million refurbishment funded by the Dubai-owned Dutco Group. Interior designers Graven introduced a bold aesthetic that enhances the gothic drama and original features, incorporating elements like statement lighting and custom wallpaper. The recent renovation has amplified its appeal as a luxury destination.
Beyond its celebrity clientele, Mar Hall offers a championship par-70 golf course designed by Dave Thomas and a comprehensive spa featuring a thermal sanctuary. The resort also has plans for future luxury woodland lodges. Its proximity to Glasgow Airport (ten minutes away) and Loch Lomond National Park (a 20-minute drive) further enhances its strategic location for both urban and rural excursions.
